Common questions
How many tonnes of crushed rock do I need for a driveway?
Multiply length by width by depth, all in metres, to get cubic metres, then multiply by 1.5 to get tonnes of crushed rock. A 10 m by 4 m driveway base at 100 mm deep is 4 m³, or about 6 tonnes. Allow extra for compaction. The calculator does the sum for you. The minimum order is 5 tonnes.
What is the difference between Class 2, Class 3 and Class 4 crushed rock?
Class 2 suits durable paving foundations and heavy-duty construction. Class 3, which has fines, suits heavy-duty paving with good compaction and drainage. Class 4 is a stable foundation for construction, road base and landscaping. Tell us the job and we will recommend one.
