Privacy policy
What this website collects, why, and what you can do about it. Written from what the site actually does.
Who we are
This website is operated by Fire Empire Pty Ltd, ABN 76 237 229 780, based in Melbourne, Victoria, with offices in Ballarat and Shepparton. You can contact us about privacy on 0404 080 030 or at fire.empire@outlook.com.
What we collect through the forms
We only collect what you type into a form and choose to send. Each form collects:
Request a call back (home page)
- Name, phone, delivery suburb, what you need, and your consent.
Request a quote
- The products and quantities in your quote list, material details, delivery suburb, street address, preferred delivery date, site access, customer type, name, business name, phone, email, how you heard about us, and your consent.
Bulk firewood enquiry
- Species, number of loads, delivery town or suburb, name, business name, phone, email, notes, and your consent.
Contact form
- First name, last name, phone, email, topic, message, and your consent.
Every form also sends the page it was sent from and, if you arrived through an advertising or campaign link, the campaign tags from that link (for example utm_source). A hidden spam trap field is included and should always be empty.
How we use it
- To reply to your enquiry, prepare a quote and arrange delivery.
- To understand which pages and campaigns bring in enquiries.
- To measure and improve our Google and Meta (Facebook and Instagram) advertising (see Cookies, ads and analytics below).
Sending a form does not sign you up to any mailing list.
Where it is stored
Form submissions are received and stored by Netlify, Inc., which hosts this website, and can be forwarded to our business email. Netlify may process data outside Australia. Netlify also keeps standard server logs such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and reliability.
The fonts on this site are stored on this website itself, so loading a page does not connect your browser to Google Fonts.
Cookies, ads and analytics
This site uses measurement tools from Google (Google Analytics and Google Ads) to measure our advertising: which ads and pages lead to an enquiry or a phone call. We may also switch on Meta's Meta Pixel (for Facebook and Instagram) later; it is not on yet. You can turn these tools off (see below).
These tools set cookies when a page loads and send Google and Meta information such as the pages you visit, the link or ad you arrived from, your browser and device, your IP address, and when you send a form or tap our phone number. Google and Meta may also use it to show our ads to people who have visited this site, and they may process it outside Australia.
We do not send the details you type into our forms (such as your name, phone, email or address) to Google or Meta.
The cookies these tools set include Google's _ga and _gcl_au and, once the Meta Pixel is on, Meta's _fbp. They last from about 3 months up to 2 years. Google and Meta explain how they use this information in their own privacy policies: Google and Meta.
To turn this off, choose Necessary only on the cookie notice. The tools then stop from the next page you open. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, they don't load at all. If you already chose OK and want to change it, clear this site's data in your browser and choose Necessary only when the notice appears again.
The site also stores three things in your own browser:
- fe-quote-v1 (local storage): the products you add to your quote list, so the list survives moving between pages. It stays until you send the quote, remove the items, or clear your browser data.
- fe-consent-v1 (local storage): your choice on the cookie notice, so we don't ask again.
- fe-utm-v1 (session storage): campaign tags from the link you arrived on. Cleared when you close the tab.
Access and correction
You can ask to see, correct or delete the details you sent us by calling or emailing us.
Complaints
Contact us first and we will try to fix it. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
